Do we have to wait for the next code cycle?
No. Jefferson County can restore Section R309 now. C.R.S. § 30-28-204 allows the commissioners to amend the county building code by resolution after a public hearing, without waiting to adopt another edition of the residential code.
Jeffco has already updated its wildfire construction standards between full code updates, in 2020 and 2021. Restoring sprinklers is another focused amendment to a code the county already uses. See how to update the code.
